Hamid came to Yiwu in 2003 to run a business on import of Iranian silk scarves, and a foreign trade company was founded by Hamid and his Chinese wife in 2007, with business links now expanding to many cities in Asia, Europe and North America. Hamid has settled down in downtown area of Yiwu. He could speak Chinese fluently and sent his daughter to study at a local Chinese middle school. Yiwu City, as the world's largest small commodity market and transfer hub, witnessed the successful experiences of Hamid and many other foreign businesspeople. About 15,000 foreign merchants from over 100 countries and regions live in Yiwu nowadays. Over 1.8 million kinds of commodities have been exported from Yiwu to 219 countries and regions. Since the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward six years ago, the two "arches" have stretched out on land and sea. Brilliant talents emerge, passions of youth spark, sweet loves sprout, and magnificent ambitions thrive.
