KABUL, April 19 (Xinhua) -- At least five militants were killed following an airstrike in Afghanistan's eastern province of Nangarhar on Thursday, the command of Afghan special forces said on Friday.
"About five Taliban militants were killed as a result of an airstrike conducted by the Afghan National Army Special Operations Corps (ANASOC) in Achin district, Nangarhar province," the corps in a statement.
The security forces and civilians have not suffered damage during the raid in the province, 120 km east of the country's capital of Kabul, according to the statement.
The Afghan security forces, backed by the NATO-led coalition troops, have increased ground and air offensives against militants within the past few months as spring and summer known as the fighting season is drawing near in the country.
The militant group has not made a comment on the report so far.
