PORTO ALEGRE, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- The disciplinary committee of South American football governing body CONMEBOL will meet on Saturday to decide whether to punish River Plate ahead of the Copa Libertadores final, the president of Gremio said on Thursday.

Gremio submitted an official complaint to CONMEBOL after River coach Marcelo Gallardo entered his team's dressing room at halftime of their semifinal second leg against the Brazilian side despite serving a ban.

Gallardo later admitted to journalists that he defied the suspension to address his players, who at the time were trailing by two goals at Arena do Gremio in Porto Alegre.

River recovered to beat the competition's defending champions on away goals, earning a spot in the final against their Argentine rivals Boca Juniors. Gremio have since demanded that the result be overturned.

"All the facts make us absolutely sure that this case can only have one result," Gremio president Romildo Bolzan told a news conference. "River did not behave ethically."

Gallardo was handed a one-match touchline and dressing room ban the day before the match for his team's late re-entry to the pitch after halftime of last week's semifinal first leg in Buenos Aires, which Gremio won 1-0.

The final of the Copa Libertadores, South America's top club competition, will be played over two legs on Nov. 7 and Nov. 28.
