RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Brazil international forward Everton scored an audacious backheel goal in second-half stoppage time as Gremio defeated Fluminense 1-0 in Brazil's Serie A championship here on Saturday.
The 22-year-old appeared to overrun a pass from Thonny Anderson before sending the ball into the back of the net with his right heel in the 93rd minute.
Everton, who made his international debut for Brazil earlier this month, has now netted eight times in 19 top-flight matches this term.
The result at Nilton Santos Stadium lifted Gremio to third in the 20-team standings, a point behind leaders Sao Paulo, who were due to play 13th-placed Botafogo in Rio on Sunday.
In Saturday's other matches, America Mineiro drew 0-0 at home to Corinthians while Bahia and Flamengo also played out a goalless draw in Salvador.
