TOKYO, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened flat Tuesday as investors both sold for profits and bought on the back of the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 5.58 points, or 0.02 percent, from Monday to 22,860.28.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged up 1.23 points, or 0.07 percent, to 1,807.15.
Pulp and paper, and real estate issues comprised those that declined the most, while those that gained the most were led by bank and metal product issues.
