MUMBAI, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Seven pedestrians were injured on Sunday afternoon in India's Southern city of Bengaluru after a Sport-utility vehicle ran over them on a footpath.
The incident took place in HSR Layout locality of the city and the errant driver has been taken in custody and charged for drunken and rash driving, the police said on Monday.
Two of the injured in hospital are in critical situation, while the other five sustaining minor injuries were discharged after treatment, the police said.
Police said the driver was inebriated and lost control of the wheel, when he drove the car on the pavement, running over multiple people standing in front of a roadside eatery and those walking on the pavement.
