Taiwan sees 4.8 pct drop for export orders in May

TAIPEI, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Companies in Taiwan received fewer export orders in May, falling for the seventh consecutive month from the same period last year, the latest data showed Monday.

Export orders to Taiwan's firms lost 4.8 percent from a year earlier to 27.72 billion U.S. dollars last month, posting the seventh consecutive month of decline, according to data released by the island's economic affairs authorities.

For the first five months, Taiwan's export orders dropped 4.2 percent year on year to 129.88 billion dollars.

Month on month, the export orders in May increased 7.3 percent from April.
