AYBAK, Afghanistan, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and another injured as part of a coal mine collapsed in the northern Samangan province of Afghanistan on Monday, a local official said Tuesday.
"A group of workers were busy inside a coal mine in Dara-e-Suf Payan district when it collapsed on Monday afternoon, killing six persons on the spot and injuring another," district governor Ahmad Ali Hasani told Xinhua.
According to the official, part of the coal mine collapsed following a blast.
An investigation is underway to determine the reason of the deadly incident, Hasani said.
