HERAT, Afghanistan, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Infighting between two Taliban commanders in Shindand district of the western Herat province had left eight fighters dead, the Afghan army said in a statement on Friday.
The clash, according to the statement, erupted on Thursday afternoon between Mullah Najibullah and Mullah Nangialai, and lasted for several hours. As a result, eight fighters from both sides were killed and several others injured.
The armed outfit has yet to make comment on the report.
Taliban factions occasionally fight each other over leadership in parts of the militancy-plagued country.
