JAKARTA, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shuttler Chen Long defeated Indonesia's Jonathan Christie in the second round of the men's singles tournament at the 2019 Malaysia Masters on Thursday.
Long defeated the Asian Games gold medalist with scores of 21-15 and 21-18 in 45 minutes in the match at the Stadium Axiata in Kuala Lumpur Sport City.
The two players' last meeting before Thursday's match was at the French Open last year, where Christie was defeated 18-21, 21-12, 16-21.
The 2019 Malaysia Masters started on Tuesday and ends on January 20. It is the second tournament on the 2019 BWF World Tour.
