JAKARTA, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Yip Pu Yin from Hong Kong, China will face Indonesia's Ruselli Hartawan in the first round of the women's singles tournament at the 2019 Malaysia Masters.
The upcoming match will be the first time the two players have faced off in an international tournament, which opened on Tuesday and will end on January 20 in Kuala Lumpur.
Hartawan said she was optimistic of defeating her opponent.
"For [the game on] Wednesday, I will give my best. Hopefully I can defeat players who rank above me," she said.
Hartawan defeated India's Rituparna Das 21-13, 26-24 within 29 minutes in the tournament's qualification round.
Hartawan's compatriot Yulia Susanto is also in the main draw of the Malaysia Masters after beating America's Disha Gupta 21-17, 21-13 in the qualifier.
The 2019 Malaysia Masters is the second tournament on the 2019 BWF World Tour and has been played since 2009. The tournament has a total prize fund of 35,000 U.S. dollars.
