PUL-E-KHUMRI, Afghanistan, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Two Afghan police personnel, including a senior Afghan National police officer, were killed after Taliban ambushed a police vehicle in the northern province of Baghlan overnight, a local official said Monday.
"Fawad Attahi, who serves as the commander of one of the Afghan National Police highway company, a military unit of the Afghan National Police Zone in the region, was killed along a police officer following the attack in Kelagay locality, Dushi district of Baghlan late Sunday," Bismellah Attash, an official of Provincial Council, told Xinhua.
The militants fled the scene shortly after the attack.
Attahi will be buried after a funeral ceremony later on Monday in the province, 160 km north of Kabul, the official added.
The province has been the scene of heavy clashes between Taliban militants and security forces for long.
