HERAT, Afghanistan, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- At least one constable lost his life and another injured after unknown armed men, possibly anti-government militants attacked a security checkpoint in the western Herat province on Sunday, provincial police spokesman Abdul Ahad Walizada said.
The attack, according to the official, occurred at around 7:00 a.m. local time Sunday in Hindusoz area of the 10th precinct, Herat city, leaving one constable dead and injuring another.
No group has claimed responsibility yet, the official said, adding that investigation has been initiated to determine the fact.
