TOKYO, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Monday, with the benchmark Nikkei stock index extending its run of closing highs for a seventh straight day.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 223.70 points, or 1.00 percent, from Friday to close the day at 22,574.76.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 21.60 points, or 1.30 percent, to finish at 1,689.05.
Marine transportation, oil and coal product, and mining-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
