TOKYO, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced on Thursday morning as investors were heartened by comments made by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell indicating the Fed may halt interest rate hikes sooner than expected.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 201.44 points, or 0.91 percent, from Wednesday to 22,378.46.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 13.21 points, or 0.80 percent, at 1,666.87.
Service, miscellaneous product, and precision instrument-linked instruments comprised those that advanced the most by the morning break.
