BEIJING, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Former NBA player Jimmer Fredette scored a game-high 37 points, pacing Shanghai Sharks to beat Liaoning Flying Leopards 104-91 in the third round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Thursday evening.
Shanghai established a 10-point lead in the first quarter as Fredette and Luo Xudong combined for 14 points at the very beginning of the game.
After the defending champions narrowed it to six in the second quarter, Fredette made a string of three-pointers to expand the difference to 15 and Shanghai led the first half by 12.
Point guard Guo Ailun led Liaoning to cut it to four in the third quarter, and it was Fredette who dampended their glimpse of hope again.
Luis Scola pocketed 16 points and six rebounds, Luo Xudong contributed nine points and veteran Liu Wei had eight points for Shanghai, while Lester Hudson and Brandon Bass got 22 points each, and Guo had a team-high 25 points for Liaoning.
In other matches on Thursday, Shenzhen won over Aolong 137-136, Qingdao lost to Guangzhou 105-88, Jilin beat Shanxi 89-87, and Beijing smashed Tianjin 98-77. Enditem
