NEW DELHI, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people, including five female teachers and three children, were killed Saturday in a truck-car collision in western Indian state of Rajasthan, police said.
The victims were travelling in a car that collided with the goods truck.
The accident took place in Salumbar area of Udaipur district, about 435 km southwest of Jaipuri, the capital city of Rajasthan.
"Three minor school children and five women teachers were killed today in a deadly road accident here," a police official posted in Udaipur said.
Following the accident police teams rushed to the spot to carry out rescue work.
Police said the teachers and students were going on a school picnic.
Police have registered a case and ordered investigations to ascertain reasons behind the accident.
Deadly road accidents are common in India often caused due to overloading, bad condition of roads and reckless driving.
