U.S. dollar ticks down on stronger euro, British pound

NEW YORK, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar decreased in late trading Wednesday as euro and British pound continue to strengthen.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.17 percent at 95.5048 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.1525 dollars from 1.1497 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.3199 dollars from 1.3146 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar fell to 0.7084 dollar from 0.7100 dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 112.57 Japanese yen, lower than 113.04 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.9920 Swiss franc from 0.9921 Swiss franc, and it was up to 1.3033 Canadian dollars from 1.2944 Canadian dollars. Enditem
