TOKYO, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday, as investor sentiment was lifted by gains on Wall Street overnight, with a comparatively weaker yen also adding support.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 269.60 points, or 1.13 percent, from Thursday to 24,066.34.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 15.78 points, or 0.88 percent, at 1,815.89.
Information and communication, electric appliance, and securities house-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
