RIGA, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The 368-meter television tower in the Latvian capital Riga, the highest TV tower in the European Union (EU), will be turned into a tourist attraction, the head of the Latvian state Radio and TV Center Janis Bokta said on Wednesday.
During reconstruction of the tower, one large observation platform will be built at the height of 134 meters and several smaller ones at the height of 97 meters, Bokta told journalists.
He also said that at the height of 94 meters a revolving restaurant is planned.
A giant Foucault pendulum with a ball weighing half-a ton and a 70 meter-high wire will be added to the tower's base. It will be the highest and heaviest Foucault pendulum in the world, Bokta said.
The reconstruction worth 40 to 50 million euros will start next year, and the tower will be open to the public at the end of 2022.
