MAZAR-E-SHARIF, Afghanistan, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- A total of seven militants have been confirmed dead and five others injured after government forces ambushed a convoy of Taliban fighters in Dawlat Abad district of northern Balkh province on Wednesday, an army spokesman in northern region Mohammad Hanif Rezai said.
"A group of Taliban rebels were crossing a road in Jaghal area of Dawlat Abad district early today morning and security personnel at nearby conducted ambush killing seven insurgents on the spot and wounding five others," Rezai told Xinhua.
The security forces also seized the arms and ammunitions of the defeated militants, the official asserted.
Taliban militants haven't commented.
