TOKYO, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were flat Thursday morning as the Dow Jones Industrial Average's overnight rise drew buying but was offset by selling for profits following the Nikkei's recent gains.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 0.39 point, or 0.0 percent, from Wednesday to 23,672.91.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged down 1.26 points, or 0.07 percent, at 1,784.40.
Bank, non-ferrous metal, and securities issues comprised notable gainers, while oil and coal product, metal product, and pulp and paper issues led those that declined the most by the morning break.
