RABAT, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Debutant RS Berkane of Morocco defeated Mozambique's UD Songo 2-1 to earn a place in the quarterfinals of CAF Confederation Cup on Wednesday night.
The Moroccan team continued their impressive run in the African competition, grabbing additional three points at the Stade Municipal de Berkane to top Group B standings with 13 points ahead of the Egyptian team of Al Masry.
The hosts got off to a perfect start as Abdessamad El Mobarki broke the deadlock just 6 minutes into the encounter.
The Mozambicans surprised Berkane with an equalizer from Jimmy Julio Ukonde two minutes into the second half, but the Moroccan team ensured the leadership of Group B with a goal by Mohamed Ferhane in the 70th minute.
In the other game, Al Masry defeated Sudan's Al Hilal 2-0 to finish second with 12 points. Sudanese giants and UD Songo were eliminated after taking only three points each. Enditem
