ULAN BATOR, July 30 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Mongolia announced on Monday that it has provided humanitarian aid worth 270 million Mongolian tugriks (110,000 U.S. dollars) to children affected by floods in the western Bayan-Ulgii Province.
Relief materials include tents, drinking water, hygiene supplies, as well as educational support and services.
Downpours from July 14 to 16 triggered massive flooding in Bayan-Ulgii, affecting more than 2,500 people, including 425 children, according to Mongolia's National Emergency Management Agency.
The disaster has caused direct economic losses of 10 billion tugriks (about 4 million dollars).
Heavy rainfall across the country is expected to continue until August 3, according to the weather forecast.
