Bangladesh's 2017-18 fiscal inflation rises slightly

DHAKA, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The average inflation rate in Bangladesh during the 12 months of the just concluded 2017-18 fiscal year (July 2017-June 2018) slightly rose to 5.78 percent, official data showed Wednesday.

The country's average inflation rate in the previous 2016-17 fiscal year (July 2016-June 2017) was 5.44 percent.

On a point-to-point basis, according to Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) data, June inflation, however, fell slightly to 5.54 percent from 5.57 percent in May.

According to BBS, the food inflation rate dropped to 5.98 percent last month from 6.56 percent in May.

But non-food inflation slightly increased to 4.87 percent last month compared to the previous month's 4.8 percent, it showed.
