MOSCOW, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Cristiano Ronaldo had to ask noisy Iran fans to be quiet so that he and his team-mates could get a good night's sleep ahead of their decisive Group B game on Monday night.

Portugal need to avoid defeat to Iran to progress to the last 16 of the World Cup, while Iran need a win in order to progress and a group of their supporters camped outside of the Portuguese team hotel in Saransk on Sunday night, making noise and stopping their rivals sleeping.

The Portuguese sports paper 'A Bola' reported on Monday that it didn't help the Portuguese team that their hotel was located close to "an area of bars and the Fan Zone" which has been created for the World Cup.

TV cameras captured images of a shirtless Ronaldo going to the window of his bedroom and making a 'sleep' gesture with his hands, before giving a 'thumbs up' sign to thank them for their understanding.
