CARACAS, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela's National Constituent Assembly (ANC) is set to review the Constitution for potential amendment, Diosdado Cabello, president of the ANC said on Thursday.

"We are going to take part ... in the review of our Constitution to see in what areas we could be making ... some modification," Cabello said.

Cabello made the statement following a meeting with the presidents and vice presidents of the ANC's 22 committees to gather proposals and recommendations.

The ANC, which was elected to revise the constitution, will also back the administration of President Nicolas Maduro in its fight against corruption and excessive regulations, he added.

"It is part of the work that began on Aug. 4, 2017, when the ANC was installed to help restore stability to Venezuela's roiled political and economic landscape, after months of violent anti-government demonstrations," he said.

Cabello was sworn in as president of the ANC earlier this week, after his predecessor, Delcy Rodriguez, was appointed by President Maduro as the country's vice president.
