MOSCOW, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian football authorities have confirmed that goalkeeper Mouez Hassan's World Cup is over after he suffered a shoulder injury in their opening game against England on Monday night.
22-year-old Hassan had to be replaced by Farouk Ben Mustapha after a collision with England midfielder in the 16th minute of the game which England won 2-1 in Volgograd and was later seen in the team dugout with his arm supported in a sling.
Hassan was born in France and had represented the country at Under-21 level, but decided to play for Tunisia earlier in the year, making his debut in March.
Tunisian officials have said that his shoulder will not recover in time for the rest of the World Cup and he will return to his French club side Chateauroux for treatment.
Tunisia's next match is against Group G leaders, Belgium in Moscow's Spartak Stadium on June 23rd and the need to avoid defeat against the side coached by Roberto Martinez to have any chance of remaining in the tournament.
