CHICAGO, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Foxconn Technology Group opted to have its regional headquarters in Milwaukee, the biggest city in the midwestern U.S. state of Wisconsin, local media reported on Tuesday.

A Foxconn executive confirmed many of the 13,000 Wisconsin jobs Foxconn has said it will create will be outside Racine County, where the company will build its 10 billion U.S. dollars worth electronics factory.

Under an initial plan, Foxconn will hire about 13,000 local workers and build an industrial park in Racine County, Wisconsin, covering nearly 20 million square feet.

Alan Yeung, the Taiwan-based firm's director of U.S. strategic initiatives, didn't say where else in Wisconsin the jobs would be located beyond potentially several hundred in downtown Milwaukee, where Foxconn will locate its regional headquarters.

Foxconn will house its regional headquarters and an "innovation center" in a seven-story commercial building in Milwaukee, which the company will buy from Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., Yeung said, adding Foxconn is close to finalizing the purchase.

"In fact a lot of the plans we have put together have been modified and updated, some of those we don't actually know if they are true anymore, but what has not changed is our commitment to community," Yeung added.

The state government of Wisconsin and Foxconn inked the final contract for the display screen project worth 10 billion U.S. dollars in Racine County in November.

The Foxconn complex will produce displays used in a wide range of devices and solutions, from the latest generation televisions to self-driving cars, and aircraft systems.?
