CARACAS, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela was among the top three medal-winning countries competing at the 2018 South American Games, so far securing a total of 88 medals, including 25 gold medals by Sunday.
The Games, taking place in Cochabamba, Bolivia from May 26 to June 8, have seen Brazil dominate the medals table with 109 medals overall and 48 gold medals, followed by Colombia with 127 medals overall and 47 gold medals.
On Sunday, Venezuela hoped to climb up in the ranking with its debut in synchronized swimming and beach volleyball, and participation in cycling, table tennis, shooting and archery.
In handball, Venezuela's men's team was to play Uruguay, and in boxing, the country featured three boxers in different weight categories.
Yoel Finol, the bronze-winning boxer at the 2016 Rio Olympics, made it to the semifinals on Saturday after defeating his Brazilian rival.
On Saturday, Venezuela secured four gold medals, two silver and three bronze medals.
