SINGAPORE, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 0.11 percent or 3.71 points to close at 3536.76.
A total of 1.48 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.02 billion Singapore dollars (about 762.84 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 225 to 174.
The STI index closed down 0.2 percent or 7.18 points to close at 3533.05 on Wednesday.
