TOKYO, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday following Wall Street's overnight rebound and the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 95.70 points, or 0.42 percent, from Wednesday to 22,812.93.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 6.91 points, or 0.38 percent, to 1,807.26.
Bank, glass and ceramics product, and fishery, agriculture and forestry-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
