TOKYO, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were essentially flat Thursday morning as investors both bought on the back of Wall Street's overnight rise, and sold to secure profits.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average crept up 37.57 points, or 0.17 percent, from Wednesday to 22,446.45.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, inched 1.02 points, or 0.06 percent, higher to 1,773.93.
Gainers comprised mining, oil and coal product issues, while air transportation, and pulp and paper led those that declined the most by the morning break.
