JAKARTA, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Bali was scheduled to host part of international Kilo Run series on June 2 to 3, expected to be participated by international runners.
Bali's Ubud has been picked to host the second event after the previous one in Thailand's Bangkok. Other Asian cities picked to host the Kilo Run series were Japan's Osaka and Vietnam's Hanoi.
"This is a new concept in sports tourism. It is a serial event that combines run, eat and tour altogether in a marathon. This event is held in Asian iconic tourism spot cities," Kreingkrai Kanjanapokin, CEO of Index Creative Village Plc. which organizes the event said in Bali's Ubud recently.
He said that with its beautiful natural view and cultural richness, Ubud was perfectly fit to host the event that highlights tourism. Route of the upcoming Kilo Run was designed to pass through several landmark tour spots in Ubud, he added.
The event in Bangkok last month managed to attract over 2,600 runners, he said, expecting that the Kilo Run in Ubud would be participated by at least 2,000 runners.
Indonesia Tourism Minister Arief Yahya hailed the event, saying that it proves Bali's extraordinary natural view remains attractive for international sport event.
"In term of natural beauty, Bali is undoubtedly interesting. We would always welcome those initiating such an event there," the minister said.
