BUENOS AIRES, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Independiente missed a chance to move to third in the Superliga Argentina standings, managing only a 1-1 draw with stragglers Tigre on Sunday.
Silvio Romero gave Independiente the lead with a 32nd-minute strike before Federico Gonzalez equalized for the hosts 17 minutes from time at the Monumental de Victoria stadium.
The result left Independiente fifth in the 28-team standings with 36 points, 11 points behind leaders Boca Juniors, while Tigre remained 24th with 16 points.
In Sunday's only other match, Union Santa Fe beat Banfield 2-0 after first half goals from Mauro Pitton and Franco Fragapane.
Union remained seventh in the standings with 34 points and Banfield dropped to 17th, nine points further back.
