TOKYO, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Thursday morning as investors sought bargains following the market's recent losses triggered by a rout on Wall Street earlier this week.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 55.57 points, or 0.26 percent, from Wednesday to 21,700.94.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 6.72 points, or 0.38 percent, at 1,756.63.
Transportation equipment, rubber product and precision instrument-linked shares comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
