NANNING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Polish motorcycle speedway legend Tomasz Gollob has arrived at a hospital in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to seek treatment for his spinal injury, Chinese doctors said.

Gollob arrived at the Seventh People's Hospital in Nanning, capital of Guangxi, Tuesday, said Huang Ke, chief of the hospital.

Gollob is the 2010 world speedway champion. He injured his spinal cord in an accident last year.

A group of Chinese doctors specializing in the traditional Chinese therapies of acupuncture, moxibustion and massage spent 21 days in Grudziadz, Poland on an exchange program last year.

Gollob's surgeon suggested using traditional Chinese therapy, and the governments of the two cities arranged for his treatment in China, which is scheduled to last two months.

Nanning and Grudziadz have carried out close exchanges in the economic, cultural and medical fields since 2013.

Wei Lifu, a doctor and specialist in acupuncture therapy, said he and other doctors will make a plan to facilitate Gollob's recovery. In the first stage, doctors will use acupuncture treatment to reduce his reliance on painkillers and help him sleep.

Last year, more than 50 overseas patients received traditional Chinese treatment at the hospital.
