BAKU, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will ensure China's further development, strengthen its weight globally and bring prosperity to its people, said Siyavush Novruzov, deputy head of Azerbaijan's ruling party.
In an interview with Xinhua on Monday, a day before the conclusion of the CPC congress, the Yeni Azerbaijan party leader, who also serves as a lawmaker, spoke highly of China's leading role on the world stage.
The CPC meeting took place at a time of unprecedented international uncertainties, which endowed the landmark event with unique significance, noted Novruzov, adding that its decisions will contribute to the further development of China and the world.
"We have witnessed that the Chinese economy has made remarkable strides over the past decade," which has drawn growing attention in Azerbaijan, Novruzov said.
Under the leadership of the CPC, he said, China has also improved people's living standards and promoted its foreign trade and global political influence.
On Azerbaijan-China relations, Novruzov said the two countries, which celebrate the 25th anniversary of their diplomatic ties this year, share deep historical roots.
Bilateral trade, student exchanges and high-level visits, among others, have all contributed to the development of bilateral relations, added the Azerbaijani lawmaker.
Commenting on the Belt and Road Initiative, Novruzov said it is aimed at promoting common development along the routes of the ancient Silk Road and Azerbaijan fully supports it.
Put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013, the initiative is aimed at promoting trade, financial integration, infrastructure inter-connectivity and people-to-people exchanges along and beyond the ancient Silk Road trade routes linking Asia with Europe and Africa.
On cooperation between the CPC and the Yeni Azerbaijan party, he noted that the Azerbaijan-China working group on inter-parliamentary relations is the largest inter-parliamentary group for the Azerbaijani parliament.
"We highly appreciate the sincere and friendly relations that have developed between our countries and parliaments, and we are making efforts for their further development," he said.
