COLOMBO, July 9 (Xinhua) -- At least 60 people were injured when two passenger buses collided in Gokarella in northwestern Sri Lanka on Monday, police said.
The buses collided head on and were believed to have been speeding along a main road.
One of the passenger buses from travelling from the north to Embilipitiya, 222 km from capital Colombo while the other passenger bus was travelling from Embilipitiya to the north.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene and those injured were rushed to nearby state hospitals.
An investigation has been launched into the accident.
