WASHINGTON, July 8 (Xinhua) -- The Pentagon on Sunday identified a U.S. soldier who was killed Saturday in what it called an apparent insider attack in Afghanistan.
According to a statement, Corporal Joseph Maciel of South Gate,California, died Saturday in Tarin Kowt District, Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan "from wounds sustained during an apparent insider attack."
The U.S. Department of Defense said the incident is under investigation.
This is the third U.S. combat fatality in Afghanistan this year, according to CNN.
