HOUSTON, June 17 (Xinhua) -- At least five undocumented immigrants were dead on Sunday following a chase involving Border Patrol agents in southern Texas, the United States.
According to local police, the driver of the vehicle was trying to escape Border Patrol agents around noon when the vehicle went off the road in Big Wells area, about 480 km southwest of downtown Houston and about 140 km north of Laredo, a city with border traffic to Mexico.
There were 14 people in the vehicle, including the driver. Four people were pronounced dead at the scene and a fifth person died later in hospital. The driver was taken into custody.
