LONDON, June 2 (Xinhua) -- The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were watched by fewer people than the marriage of Harry's brother Prince William, figures showed.
A TV ratings conducted by the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board (BARB) revealed that a total audience of 11.5 million watched the wedding of Prince Harry, while 17.6 million tuned in for the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.
According to BARB, the organisation that compiles audience measurement and television ratings in Britain, the most popular royal wedding is obviously that of Charles and Diana, Prince and Princess of Wales in 1981, which pulled in a whopping 28.4 million viewers across Britain.
The royal wedding that comes in second place is that of Prince Charles' younger brother Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duke and Duchess of York. They brought in 18.7 million viewers across Britain.
Then comes Prince William and Kate Middleton in third place. The forth place is taken by Prince Harry's uncle Prince Edward and Sophie, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, with a combined 14.8 million viewers. Harry and Meghan's wedding on May 29 ranks fifth.
