GARDEZ, Afghanistan, May 29 (Xinhua) -- At least four Afghan border policemen were killed and nine others wounded, following a Taliban offensive in eastern province of Paktia, an official said Tuesday.
"The incident took place at 02:00 a.m. in Dand Wa Patan district of the province, when a group of militants loyal to the Taliban attacked a border checkpoint, leaving four guards dead and nine others injured," Gulab Shah, the district police chief, told Xinhua.
Militants fled the scene after receiving fire by police and sustaining heavy casualties, said the source.
The Taliban militants are yet to comment on the report.
