DHAKA, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh Muslims observed holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of fortune and forgiveness, in the country on Tuesday night with due solemnity and religious fervor.
On Shab-e-Barat night Muslims attempt to stay awake in prayer as much as possible.
A good turnout of people was witnessed on Tuesday night at different mosques in Dhaka where special prayers and sermons were held.
During the day, Muslims specially seek divine blessings for peace and happiness for themselves and also for the wellbeing of mankind.
They also visit graveyards and pray for their dear ones.
Shab-e-Barat falls on the 15 of the Islamic month of Shaban.
On the occasion, Bangladesh Muslims distribute sweets and homemade foods among the poor, their neighbors, friends and relatives.
On this night, according to Muslim belief, Allah (God) decides the fate of all creatures for the coming year taking into account their prayers.
