TRIPOLI, March 9 (Xinhua) -- A suicide attack on Friday hit a military checkpoint on the outskirts of the eastern Libyan city of Ajdabiya, some 160 km east of the city of Benghazi, wounding three soldiers.
"A terrorist blew himself up targeting the checkpoint south of the city, injuring three members of the 152 Infantry Battalion," the information office of the army's Ajdabiya Operations Chamber said in a statement.
The attack was carried out with a four-wheel drive vehicle, the statement said.
Social media circulated images of the attacked checkpoint, where a nearby military building and large number of military vehicles were destroyed.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, the attack is likely to be carried out by Islamic State affiliates, who claimed responsibility for similar attacks previously.
